Our Co2 Grandis ® is FSC, PEFC certified and EUTR compliant and we aim to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum and encourage sustainable practices. For example we use our off cuts in our commercial wood burning stove to heat our workshop in winter and provide heat for our kiln drying process.
Co2 Grandis ® is a straight grained hardwood timber with few knots, and is also know as Red Grandis, Eucalyptus Grandis, Rose Gum or Flooded Gum. It can treated but with a durability rating of 2 (BS EN 350 timber durability class) it can be left to naturally age.
For a alternative hardwood please see our sister site www.balau.co.uk. Balau is a sustainable "heavier" hardwood, yellow-brown in colour with a Janka Hardness of 1,600 lbf (7,120 N) compared to Red Grandis 1,260 lbf (5,600 N). Both Hardwood are sustainable and long lasting.
